The Oakland Athletics have avoided arbitration with second baseman Eric Sogard by agreeing to a one-year contract, the team announced Friday.

Sogard will earn $1.075 million in 2015, according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman.

Sogard requested $1.425 million and the A's countered with a $900,000 offer when the two sides exchanged salary figures.

The 28-year-old hit .223 with a home run and 22 RBIs in 117 games and will most likely come off the bench for Oakland next season.
