The Cincinnati Reds have signed right-hander Jason Marquis to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training, the team announced Wednesday.

The 36-year-old is making a return from Tommy John surgery after resurrecting his career in the early portion of the 2013 season with the San Diego Padres. Marquis went 9-5 with a 4.05 ERA and reeled off eight consecutive wins before tearing his ulnar collateral ligament in July, which held him out for the entire 2014 campaign.

Marquis won the 2006 World Series as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals and was named an All-Star in 2009. He owns a 121-114 career record with a 4.56 ERA and 1.44 WHIP.
