The best collegiate and high school baseball players in the country may have to wait a little longer to hear their names called in the First-Year Player Draft.

Major League Baseball is considering pushing back the draft date from mid-June to July 1, reports Peter Gammons.

NCAA coaches and MLB officials met Monday and have agreed to a July 1 draft and July 15 signing deadline, according to Gammons.

The main reason for the date change is to allow collegiate players participating in the College World Series to finish their seasons prior to the draft.

There has been no official announcement from MLB or the NCAA on the decision.
