The Rangers may have deemed Knebel expendable due to the elbow injury he suffered last August, but the Brewers were willing to take a chance on him due to his pedigree (39th pick in 2013) and production (1.65 ERA and 12.3 career minor league K/9). He made a brief appearance in the big leagues last season and could reach the majors again in 2015 if healthy.
