Report: Rockies 'not initiating trade talks' for Blackmon

Ron Chenoy / USA TODAY Sports

The Colorado Rockies are listening to offers on Charlie Blackmon - though they don't intend to force the issue.

Blackmon saw his name surface in trade rumors last week as the Rockies have reportedly fielded calls regarding the outfielder, however a major-league source tells Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post that the team is not initiating the trade talks.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a breakout season in 2014, hitting .288/.335/.440 with 19 home runs and 72 RBIs in 154 games - earning his first All-Star appearance. Blackmon, however, benefited heavily from hitting at Coors Field and failed to come close to replicating that production in visiting ballparks. He was limited to a .241/.269/.348 line on the road compared to .331/.391/.524 at home.

Ken Rosenthal and Jon Morosi of FOX Sports previously reported that Rockies' officials believe they could land a much needed starting pitcher in a swap for Blackmon.

Colorado had no problem scoring last season - they recorded the third most runs in the majors - though run prevention was a particular area of weakness. Rockies' starters boasted the second-highest ERA (4.89).
