Analysis:

The former first-round pick (7th overall in 2008) struggled to a .240/.285/.397 batting line in 84 games before wrist and forearm injuries ended his 2014 campaign. Despite his struggles and injury history, new Padres GM A.J. Preller endorsed Alonso as the team's starting first baseman earlier in the offseason, and Alonso said just earlier this week that he feels he's back to 100 percent.
