Cishek agreed to a one-year, $6.65 million contract with the Marlins on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports.

Analysis:

The 28-year-old right-hander finished fifth in the NL in saves last season with 39, and he'll be rewarded handsomely -- in the form of a nearly $3 million raise -- in his second year of arbitration. Cishek's FIP (2.17) was an even 100 points lower than his ERA last season, suggesting improved numbers in the ratio categories may be coming in 2015. Further, the Marlins have improved as a team, so Cishek may be afforded more save opportunities.
