Royals GM unsure if Gordon will be 100 percent to start spring training

Kansas City Royals outfielder Alex Gordon may see his recovery from wrist surgery disrupt the start to his season.

The four-time Gold Glove winner underwent a procedure to repair the extensor retinaculum in his right wrist on Dec. 30 and general manager Dayton Moore told Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star that he is unsure if Gordon will be 100 percent for the start of spring training. Moore, however, does expect him to be ready for Opening Day.

Gordon missed four games after spraining the same wrist in July and said that he aggravated the injury during winter training sessions.

The soon-to-be 31-year-old appeared in 156 games last season, hitting .266/.351/.432 with 19 home runs, 34 doubles and 74 RBIs.
