Orioles' Bundy: 'This is a big year for me'

Baltimore Orioles prospect Dylan Bundy hasn't stepped on a Major League mound since logging two relief appearances as a September call-up in 2012, his development stalled by Tommy John surgery that sidelined him for the entire 2013 campaign and limited him to just 41 1/3 innings last season.

Despite spending much of the last two years recovering from injury, however, the 22-year-old right-hander appears primed to get back on track in 2015.

"This is a big year for me going into it," Bundy told MASN's Roch Kubatko. "I should be fully healthy going into it as far as arm-wise. I've just got to be ready and go out there and compete like I did my first year."

Bundy, the fourth overall pick in the 2011 draft, managed nine starts last season between Lo-A Aberdeen and Hi-A Frederick upon his return to competitive action in June. Though he doesn't anticipate he'll open the season in Baltimore, Bundy said he's pleased with the progress he made in 2014.

"I'm happy with the way last year went," he said. "Of course, I'd like to have made it to Double-A, but I had some things to figure out after not throwing for a year or so.

"I like to expect that I'll be in Bowie, but you never now. It could be high A again, could be Triple-A. I don't really know what they're thinking.
