The Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs are going to battle over another left-handed pitcher.
Free-agent reliever Craig Breslow will sign with either the Red Sox or Cubs, reports WEEI's Rob Bradford.
The Red Sox declined Breslow's $4-million club option earlier this offseason, which could give the Cubs an advantage if they're willing to pay the lefty.
The 34-year-old recorded an ugly 5.96 ERA in 60 appearances for Boston in 2014, but played an instrumental role out of the bullpen during the team's 2013 World Series title run. Breslow recorded a win and four holds duringvthe postseason run after posting a 1.81 ERA during the regular season.
