Jimmy Rollins not sad to leave Phillies

Bill Streicher / USA TODAY Sports

Jimmy Rollins is taking a shot at the Philadelphia Phillies organization.

"Not at all," Rollins said when asked if he was sad about leaving Philadelphia for sunny Los Angeles. "It's a business."

The Phillies agreed to deal their longtime shortstop to the Dodgers on Dec. 10 for a pair of minor league pitchers, ending Rollins' 15-year tenure with the team.

Rollins, who has spent his entire career with the Phillies, is the franchise's all-time hits leader (2,306), and led the club to a World Series title in 2008. He's a three-time All-star, amassed four Gold Glove awards and was named the National League MVP in 2008.

The 36-year-old waived his 10-and-5 rights in order for the trade to happen, and revealed he would only do so for two more destinations: both of the New York teams. The Dodgers are, however, his first choice as they're built to win next season.

Rollins is planning to take out a full-page ad in Saturday's Philadelphia Inquirer to thank the fans and the organization.
