Dodgers, Phillies complete Jimmy Rollins trade

It's official: Jimmy Rollins is headed to Hollywood.

The Los Angeles Dodgers officially announced the acquisition of Rollins from the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday, nearly a week after news of the reported trade broke.

Philadelphia receives pitchers Zach Eflin and Tom Windle in exchange for Rollins and cash considerations.

The trade was held in limbo pending the finalization of the blockbuster deal involving Matt Kemp, which netted the Dodgers right-handed pitching prospect Eflin from the San Diego Padres.

It officially marks the end of Rollins' 15-year tenure with the Phillies, a run that included an MVP season, multiple Gold Gloves and All-Star games, and a franchise-record 2,306 hits.

"Jimmy is both an iconic player and person whom I have had the great joy of watching grow up in this game and this city," Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said in a statement Friday. "His contributions to the franchise and to Philadelphia are unparalleled and I wish him the best in Los Angeles."

Long-time double play partner Chase Utley also reacted to Friday's official announcement:

Eflin, 20, was selected by the Padres in the first round (33rd overall) of the 2012 draft out of high school. The 6-foot-4 right-hander started 24 games at Class-A last year, crafting a 3.80 ERA with 93 strikeouts in 128 innings.

Baseball America rated Eflin's changeup the best in the organization prior to the 2014 season.

Windle, 22, also appeared at Class-A last year, pitching to a 4.26 ERA and 1.37 WHIP over 139 1/3 innings. The left-hander was the Dodgers' second-round pick of the 2013 draft.
