The Oakland Athletics added depth to their bullpen Thursday, acquiring reliever Eury De La Rosa from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for cash considerations.
De La Rosa, 24, was designated for assignment Friday by the Diamondbacks after pitching to a 2.95 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings across 25 appearances in 2014.
The left-hander was originally signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2008 and spent parts of five seasons in the Diamondbacks minor league system before making his MLB debut last year. De La Rosa isn't eligible for arbitration until 2018 and is under club control through the 2020 season.
Oakland designated right-handed pitcher Fernando Rodriguez for assignment to make room on the 40-player roster.
