Report: Jake Peavy drawing interest from Marlins, Giants, Braves
The market for right-hander Jake Peavy appears to be heating up.
Peavy, a free agent for the first time in his career, is drawing interest from a number of teams, including the Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins and San Francisco Giants, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.
The 34-year-old authored a tale of two seasons last year, but was instrumental in helping the Giants reach the postseason before the club eventually won its third World Series title in five years.
Peavy pitched to a 4.72 ERA with the Boston Red Sox in 20 starts before getting shipped to San Francisco midseason. In 12 starts with the Giants, Peavy posted a 2.17 ERA and lowered his walk and home run rates, making himself a sought-after commodity.
A 13-year veteran, Peavy is a three-time All-Star and was the recipient of the 2007 National League Cy Young Award as a member of the San Diego Padres. He has a career 3.53 ERA and has also pitched for the Chicago White Sox, who dealt him to the Red Sox in 2013.
Miami's interest in Peavy was first reported by ESPN's Jerry Crasnick in early December.
