Matt Joyce: Traded To The Angels
The Rays traded Joyce to the Angels on Tuesday for right-hander Kevin Jepsen, Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports reports.
Analysis:
Joyce was heavily shielded from left-handed pitching last season, which allowed him to hit .254, the second-highest average of his career. He smacked just nine homers in 140 games, however, the first time he has failed to reach double-digits since 2009. His role with the Angels is to be determined, but it seems likely he'll serve on the favorable end of a platoon at DH with C.J. Cron.
