Chase Headley: Signs $52 Million Deal With Yankees
Headley signed a four-year, $52-million deal with the Yankees on Monday, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
Analysis:
While he probably won't put up a .371 on-base percentage with the Yankees again this season, Headley should still be valuable long-term for them thanks to his defense. The 30-year-old's offense will likely continue to diminish though; his batting average has gone down every year since 2011. This will likely displace the returning Alex Rodriguez (suspension) to more of a DH/backup third baseman role.
