Report: Marlins may consider trading Haren if he plans to retire

The Miami Marlins acquired pitcher Dan Haren in a trade last week with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but the right-hander might not ever pitch for the Fish.

The Marlins may consider trading Haren if he plans to retire, rather than join the team, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports

Haren expressed his desire earlier last month to remain in Los Angeles and stated that he would consider retirement should the Dodgers trade him to any other team but the Los Angeles Angels.

The 34-year-old exercised his $10-million option for the 2015 season prior to being packaged to Miami.

Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria said last Thursday that the expectation is for Haren to pitch for them next season.

In 32 starts last season, Haren posted a 13-11 record and 4.02 ERA over 186 innings.
