Report: Rangers agree to minor-league deal with Kyle Blanks

Steve Mitchell / USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers continue to build up their organizational depth with minor moves rather than make a big free agent splash this offseason, as they signed outfielder Kyle Blanks to a minor-league deal, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports

Texas marks the third different organization in the last six months for the 28-year-old. Blanks opened the season with the San Diego Padres before he was traded to the Oakland Athletics in mid-May.

Blanks appeared in 26 games last season, hitting .309/.409/.436 with a pair of home runs in 55 at-bats. The six-year veteran owns a career .234/.319/.407 slash line, with 30 home runs and 105 RBIs in 160 games. Blanks has played primarily in the outfield but has logged 80 games at first base at the major league level.
