Report: Matt Kemp to take his physical with Padres on Tuesday

Jayne Kamin-Oncea / USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres will be one step closer to officially completing a trade involving Matt Kemp on Tuesday.

The two teams agreed to a deal Thursday at the winter meetings that would send Kemp and catcher Tim Federowicz to the Friars in exchange for backstop Yasmani Grandal, and pitchers Zach Eflin and Joe Wieland. The Dodgers are also paying $32 million towards Kemp's massive contract.

The 30-year-old Kemp has been hampered by shoulder and ankle injuries the past two seasons, but he finished the 2014 campaign in good health leaving no reason to believe he'll fail the physical.

Kemp has spent his entire nine-year career in the Dodgers organization and is coming off a season in which he slashed .287/.346/.506.
