Diamondbacks, Red Sox finalize trade for Wade Miley

Though some last-minute squabbling prevented the Arizona Diamondbacks from trading Wade Miley to the Boston Red Sox during the winter meetings, the issues were finally resolved Friday.

The Red Sox were set to send Allen Webster, Rubby De La Rosa and a third player to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, but the deal was held up after the two clubs proved unable to reach an agreement over the final player involved.

"We're still squabbling about the extra player," Diamondbacks general manager Dave Stewart told MLB.com's Steve Gilbert on Thursday. "If we can get through that, then we'll be OK."

The two clubs agreed Friday, however, that 20-year-old shortstop Raymel Flores will head to Arizona to complete the deal. The Dominican native hit .282/.344/.354 with one home run and 14 stolen bases over 61 games in the New York-Pennsylvania League in 2014 and should get his first taste of full-season baseball this season.

Miley, meanwhile, is entering his first season of arbitration eligibility and crafted a 4.34 ERA with a 1.40 WHIP over 33 starts in 2014, notching 183 strikeouts while allowing 23 home runs over 201 1/3 innings.
