Diamondbacks take Rays' Hernandez with 1st pick in Rule 5 Draft

The winter meetings officially concluded Thursday with the Rule 5 Draft.
The draft was established to prevent teams from stockpiling too many young players. It's held annually, and allows teams to pick in reverse order of last season's standings. Teams can choose any player from another team who is not currently on a 40-man roster but has been under contract for either four of five years.
The Arizona Diamondbacks plucked catcher Oscar Hernandez from the Tampa Bay Rays with the first pick.
