The Miami Marlins upgraded at second base Wednesday at the winter meetings by acquiring Dee Gordon from the Los Angeles Dodgers, but general manager Dan Jennings isn't done improving his team's infield.

According to MLB.com's Joe Frisaro, the Marlins appear to be in "hot pursuit" of Colorado Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau, who led the National League with a .319 batting average while posting a 125 OPS+ last season. Garrett Jones, the club's incumbent first baseman, hit just .246/.309/.411 over 146 games and has drastic platoon splits that continue to undermine his status as an everyday player.

Morneau, who signed a two-year deal with the Rockies last winter, is set to earn $6.75 million next season and holds a $9-million mutual option for the 2016 campaign.
