The Boston Red Sox offered Jon Lester a four-year extension, in the $70-$80 million range, in April. Lester rejected it. That low-ball offer could now cost the Red Sox double, should they reach a deal with the free-agent left-hander.

Each of Lester's offers are reportedly in the six-year, $150-million range and could reach the neighborhood of seven years, $175 million, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports

The Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants and Red Sox are all clamoring to sign the three-time All-Star, but Rosenthal noted Monday that the choice had been narrowed down to the Cubs and Giants.

Giants general manager Brian Sabean stated at the winter meetings that the team is all-in on the 30-year-old. Assistant GM Bobby Evans, however, believes the Giants are taking a back seat to the Cubs and Red Sox because of the deep relationships he has with those involved with the two clubs.

Lester's decision was expected to come sometime Tuesday, but now could be delayed another day as team's try to outbid one another.
