The sleeping giant this offseason known as the New York Yankees may awaken soon and be active on the international market.

The Yankees are one of four teams interested in Cuban right-hander Yoan Lopez, reports MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez.

The San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks are also in the running for the 21-year-old flamethrower, who registers triple digits on the radar gun on occasion. He boasted a 3.12 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 49 innings for Isla de la Juventud in Cuba's Serie Nacional last season.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound hurler has established residency in Haiti and been declared a free agent by Major League Baseball. Lopez previously held a showcase on Nov. 8 and will display his talents again for big-league scouts next week.

Lopez's pitch arsenal includes a cut-fastball, changeup, curveball and slider.
