Report: Rockies among teams showing interest in Kevin Correia

The Colorado Rockies once again fielded one of the league's weakest rotations in 2014, and the club is reportedly showing interest in Kevin Correia as it explores ways to improve its starting pitching for next season.

According to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Rockies are among a group of teams with interest in the 34-year-old right-hander, who split the 2014 season between the Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Dodgers. The Rockies, however, remain particularly eager to bolster their rotation after managing a collective 4.89 ERA, easily the worst mark in the National League.

Correia struggled last season, though, crafting a 5.44 ERA (71 ERA+) over 26 starts and six relief appearances, while surrendering 20 home runs over 154 innings. The former fourth-round pick also yielded an .838 on-base plus slugging to left-handed hitters and managed the worst strikeout rate (11.5 percent) in the majors among pitchers with at least 150 innings pitched.
