Report: Rangers open to moving shortstops

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports / Reuters

The Texas Rangers could be the next team involved in a trade.

The Rangers remain open to dealing from their stable of shortstops, reports FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

Rosenthal notes that starting shortstop Elvis Andrus is the least likely to be dealt, and the team would rather trade prospects than spend on free agents.

Jurickson Profar, Luis Sardinas, Ti'Quan Forbes, and Yeyson Yrizarri are the Rangers' possible trade bait (besides Andrus) at short, while top prospects Joey Gallo and Jorge Alfaro are likely untouchables in the farm system.

The Rangers have talked to the Atlanta Braves about outfielder Justin Upton's availability, but pitching seems like a more pressing need for the team in 2015.

The New York Yankees and New York Mets are two teams desperate for help at shortstop, making them obvious trade partners for Texas.
