Report: Padres submit bid to host All-Star Game

Jake Roth / USA TODAY Sports

The San Diego Padres are hoping to bring the biggest stars in the major leagues to Petco Park.

San Diego has reportedly submitted a bid to host an All-Star Game, according to Dennis Lin of U-T San Diego, though the year has not been revealed.

The 2014 All-Star game was hosted by the Minnesota Twins. The Cincinnati Reds will host in 2015. With the game typically being alternated between leagues, the soonest year the Padres could host would be in 2017.

San Diego last held the Midsummer Classic in 1992 at former Qualcomm Stadium.
