A pair of National League teams appear to be the front-runners for the services of Yasmany Tomas.

The Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres are considered the favorites to land the Cuban outfielder, according to Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com. Sanchez reports that top representatives from each team are expected to meet with the 24-year-old in the Dominican Republic this weekend.

Tomas and his camp may attend the winter meetings in San Diego next month if he has yet to sign a deal by then.

According to Sanchez, Tomas participated in a September showcase for all 30 major league teams before holding private workouts with a number or organizations. Those teams include the Padres, Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Dodgers, Seattle Mariners, San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies, Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox, and Kansas City Royals.

The Phillies have long been considered among the leading favorites to land Tomas, but Sanchez said they have cooled on him due to his asking price. He's believed to be seeking a minimum five-year, $75-million deal, according to Sanchez.

Tomas played five seasons for the Havana Industriales in the Serie Nacional in Cuba, hitting 30 homers over 205 games.
