Report: Braves shopping Justin Upton at a steep price

Brett Davis / USA TODAY Sports

Rumors Atlanta Braves outfielder Justin Upton will be traded this offseason are heating up.

The Braves are very much shopping Upton at a steep price, according to the New York Post's Joel Sherman.

"Justin Upton will be moved," one MLB executive told Sherman, while a person familiar with the trade talks deemed the interest from other clubs significant.

Upton, who hit .270 with 29 home runs and 102 RBIs in 2014, is owed $14.5 million next season but will then be a free agent.

It's unclear exactly what Atlanta wants in return for the outfielder, but it's clear the Braves are prioritizing unloading salary after sending Jason Heyward to St. Louis.

The Braves are also interested in Cuban slugger Yasmany Tomas and could convert Evan Gattis to an outfielder to replace Upton if he's dealt.
