Report: Red Sox 'very serious' about Andrew Miller

H. Darr Beiser / USA TODAY Sports

The Boston Red Sox are hoping for a reunion with left-handed reliever Andrew Miller.

Miller, arguably the top reliever on the free-agent market, is expected to command at least a four-year deal and the Red Sox are said to be "very serious" in their pursuit, according to Jason Mastrodonato of MassLive.com.

The 29-year-old spent the last four seasons with the Red Sox before he was traded at the non-waiver deadline in July to the Baltimore Orioles for minor-league reliever Eduardo Rodriguez.

Boston will have no shortage of competition for Miller, as their division rivals in Toronto are also said to be very aggressive in bolstering their bullpen with the former first-round pick.

Miller has been excellent over the past two seasons but his performance in 2014 ranked him among the top relievers in baseball. In 62 1/3 innings, Miller posted a 2.02 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 103 strikeouts.
