Report: Astros expressing interest in Brett Anderson
The Houston Astros are reportedly eyeing left-handed starter Brett Anderson in an effort to bolster their pitching staff.
The club is looking to add depth to its rotation and bullpen this winter, and is also pursuing help on the left side of the infield, according to Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle.
Anderson is reportedly one of the Astros' targets, and figures to generate interest among other teams looking to take a flier on an oft-injured pitcher with high upside. The 26-year-old southpaw has thrown a combined 206 innings over his last four seasons, but owns a respectable 3.97 ERA and 3.52 FIP over that stretch.
The Colorado Rockies, who bought Anderson out of his 2015 team option after he spent more than four months on the disabled list last year, are rumored to be considering bringing him back at a much lower salary. Anderson earned $8 million during his only season in Colorado, pitching to a 2.91 ERA over just eight starts.
