Tigers GM on Hunter: 'I don't think we'll re-sign Torii'

Should outfielder Torii Hunter return for a 19th major league season, it likely won't be as a member of the Detroit Tigers.

"I don't think we'll re-sign Torii," Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski told Jason Beck of MLB.com. "I called him today and let him know that. I saw his representative, Larry Reynolds, out there in Arizona (during the general managers meetings). We've been in touch. I talked to Torii but also talked to Larry."

Following the Tigers quick playoff exit, Hunter expressed that he would love to sign another contract in Detroit, if the team was willing. The 39-year-old spent a pair of productive seasons in the Motor City, hitting .295/.327/.456 with 34 home runs and 167 RBIs in 286 games.

With Detroit out of the picture, there are still plenty of destinations for Hunter, as at least seven teams - including Kansas City and Minnesota - have expressed interest.
