Mike Trout: Unanimous AL MVP
Trout was the named the 2014 American League Most Valuable Player on Thursday, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports.
Analysis:
Trout won the award by a unanimous vote, becoming the youngest player ever to do so and the first since Ken Griffey Jr. in 1997. There are many out there who think he should have won it the past two years, but the 23-year-old Trout finally swayed the Baseball Writers Association of America by slashing .287/.377/.561 with a career-high 36 homers, 111 RBI, 115 runs scored and 16 stolen bases in 157 games in 2014.
