Heyward on extension: 'They know where I stand as far as wanting to play in Atlanta'

Atlanta Braves outfielder Jayson Heyward has put the ball in the court of the front office in regards of getting a contract extension locked up.

"I grew up a Braves fan and I grew up in Georgia," Heyward told MLB Network Radio on Thursday. "I grew up riding past the stadium every day and they know where I stand as far as wanting to play in Atlanta. The front office is well aware."

Selected with the 14th pick in the 2007 draft, the 25-year-old already has five major league seasons under his belt. The Braves bought out Heyward's last arbitration-eligible years in February, agreeing to a two-year, $13.3 million deal, making him a free agent at the conclusion of next season.

Heyward posted solid numbers in 2014, hitting .271/.351/.384 with 11 home runs and 58 RBIs while winning his second Gold Glove in right field.
