Brandon McCarthy schools Ryan Theriot on Twitter for ripping A's assistant GM
Free agent pitcher Brandon McCarthy has shown himself to be one of the more interesting athletes on Twitter. He's clever, sabermetric-friendly and has a solid sense of humor.
McCarthy put some of those skills to work Wednesday when he responded to retired player Ryan Theriot's misplaced rant on baseball general managers.
It began with this tweet from Theriot, who was none too impressed with the Los Angeles Dodgers' reported hiring of Oakland Athletics executive Farhan Zaidi as their next GM.
McCarthy, a former Athletics pitcher, responded to Theriot's second tweet with a comeback incredibly difficult for the former infielder to defend.
As McCarthy points out, Theriot won World Series titles with the St. Louis Cardinals (2011) and San Francisco Giants (2012). Neither of the club's GMs, Brian Sabean and John Mozeliak, played professional baseball.
McCarthy continued to school Theriot in subsequent tweets, which you can read here.
