Six months ago, Brandon Finnegan took the mound for Texas Christian University in the College World Series.
On Friday night, the 21-year-old left-hander took the mound for the Kansas City Royals in Game 3 of the MLB World Series, becoming the first player in history to appear in both in the same year.
Selected 17th overall in the 2014 draft, Finnegan appeared in seven games during the final weeks of the regular season before making five relief appearances through the first three round of the playoffs. He went unused in the first two games of the World Series before being summoned by manager Ned Yost to protect a one-run lead in the seventh inning Friday against the San Francisco Giants.
