San Francisco Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval failed to reach base in Game 3 of the World Series, a 3-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals, snapping a streak of 25 consecutive postseason games in which the 28-year-old reached base safely.
Sandoval tied Boog Powell for the third-longest steak in history Wednesday when he went 1-for-4 with a double in Game 2, reaching base in his 25th consecutive playoff game. Despite his disappointing performance in Game 3, Sandoval entered Friday's contest at AT&T Park hitting a robust .346/.404/.462 through 12 games this postseason.
The two longest on-base streaks in postseason history belong to Miguel Cabrera and Chase Utley, respectively, both of whom are still active.
