Jordan underwent surgery in September to remove bone chips from his right elbow, Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post reports.

Analysis:

The 25-year-old struggled in five April starts for the big club, with a 5.61 ERA and 1.64 WHIP over 25.2 innings, resulting in his demotion to Triple-A Syracuse at the end of the month. He worked to refine his mechanics and eventually regained his velocity, but elbow soreness forced Jordan out of action in early June and would ultimately end his season. Jordan did undergo Tommy John surgery in 2011, but this was merely a cleanup procedure, and the expectation is that he should be ready for spring training.
