1975 - Fisk's dramatic walk-off forces Game 7

Carlton Fisk hits a walk-off home run to lead off the 12th inning, lifting the Boston Red Sox to a 7-6 win over the Cincinnati Reds in Game 6 of the World Series.

Fisk's timely hit caps a late-inning comeback after Boston enters the eighth down three runs to the heavily favored Reds. The Red Sox backstop finishes the night 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and two walks.

Boston would go on to lose Game 7 after Reds second baseman Joe Morgan knocks in Ken Griffey Sr. in the ninth to edge the Red Sox 4-3.

1998 - Yankees cap historic season with 24th championship

The New York Yankees complete a four-game sweep of the San Diego Padres in the World Series, putting a bow on one of the most impressive seasons in the club's storied history.

New York's 24th championship passes the Montreal Canadiens for the most titles by a professional franchise, and caps a season in which the Yankees post a team-record 114 wins.

Yankees third baseman Scott Brosius earns World Series MVP honors after slugging .471/.471/.824 with a pair of homers in four games.

The Yankees spend 152 days in first and end the season a staggering 66 games above .500. It's the first of three consecutive titles for New York, and part of four in a five-year stretch.
