Chris Young hopeful about future with Mariners: 'I absolutely love it here'

Veteran right-hander Chris Young revived his career with a solid campaign for the Seattle Mariners in 2014, and the 35-year-old free agent doesn't exactly seem eager to seek employment elsewhere this winter.

"I absolutely love it here," Young told MLB.com's Greg Johns. "This has been one of my most favorite baseball experiences. I love the team, love the staff, love the organization, love the city and my favorite Major League ballpark. There's not a negative here. This place is unbelievable."

Young signed a one-year deal with the Mariners in March after spending the entire 2013 campaign recovering from shoulder surgery. The former third-round pick fashioned a 3.65 ERA (100 ERA+) over 29 starts and one relief appearance for the Mariners while logging 165 innings, his most since 2007.

Though he stumbled during the latter stages of the season, managing an 8.35 ERA over his final five starts, Young remains optimistic about his prospects for 2015 after making it through the season without suffering an injury.

"We'll see what happens," Young said. "I'm excited with what I accomplished and finishing the season healthy. I'll take a little time off now and then get back to being able to actually have an offseason to train and strengthen vs. rehab. I'm excited about that. I feel like next year will be a great season to build on this one in terms of being 100 percent, fully strong and healthy and having a base built up before I come in."
