A bout of shoulder tightness forced Ventura off the hill after 5.2 innings in Game 2 of the ALCS, but he threw a bullpen session earlier in the week and would have started Game 6, had the series gone that far. As it turned out, the Royals swept the Orioles, thus affording him a couple extra days to rest the shoulder.
