Chris Owings: Slated To Undergo Shoulder Surgery

Owings will undergo surgery on his left shoulder Thursday.

Analysis:

Owings initially hurt the shoulder on a slide home in late June, ultimately leading to his placement on the DL, and the shoulder continued to present issues on and off upon his return in September. He'll go under the knife Thursday, and while specifics regarding the procedure remain scarce, Owings is expected to be ready for spring training. The 23-year-old hit .261/.300/.406 with six homer and eight steals in 91 games this season.
