Adam Dunn: Announces Retirement

Dunn announced his retirement from baseball following the Athletics' season-ending loss in Tuesday's American League Wild Card game, ESPN.com reports.

Analysis:

Dunn never got in the game Tuesday in his first taste of the postseason in his 14-year career, but the 34-year-old is content to pack it in after a successful run with the Reds, Nationals, Diamondbacks, White Sox and Athletics. Though his time in the majors was often marred by a prodigious strikeout rate, his ability to draw walks (.364 career OBP) and hit for power (462 home runs) made him an asset in the middle of the order.
