Tigers clinch 4th straight AL Central division title with win over Twins

Rick Osentoski / USA TODAY Sports

David Price tossed 7 1/3 shutout innings and struck out eight as the Detroit Tigers beat the Minnesota Twins 3-0 on Sunday to claim the American League Central division title.

It's the fourth straight division crown for Detroit, who opened the scoring in the third inning with a solo shot from Ian Kinsler. The Tigers would tack on two more runs in the eighth courtesy an RBI single by Kinsler and sacrifice fly by Torii Hunter.

Joe Nathan pitched a clean ninth to pick up his 35th save of the season.

Detroit finished September 15-10 to hold off the hard-charging Kansas City Royals, who will host the wild card play-in game Tuesday.
