Tigers' Davis expects groin injury to be healed for Game 1 of ALDS

Detroit Tigers outfielder Rajai Davis isn't expecting a groin injury to put him on the shelf for long.

The speedster was diagnosed with a Grade 1 sprain after leaving Saturday's game in the third inning but says he's already noticing an improvement.

“Not much pain. I do feel it occasionally, when I make certain movements, but I don’t feel bad at all," Davis told the Oakland Press. "I feel a lot better than yesterday. I feel like it’s not going to be long.

“I believe God can heal me. Just what I believe. That he’s my creator, so he’s going to do some marvelous things.”

Davis, who thinks he'll be healthy in time for Game 1 of the American League Division Series (should the Tigers make it), will undergo heat treatment before the team sets a timetable for his return.

“He came in today. He feels pretty good," said head trainer Kevin Rand. "He’s undergoing treatment right now, then we’ll kind of put him through some stresses and see what he can do.”

Davis signed a two-year, $10-million deal in December and posted one of the best seasons of his career. In 134 games, the 33-year-old is hitting .282/.320/.401 with eight home runs, 51 RBIs and 36 stolen bases.
