National League Game Summary - Chicago at Milwaukee

Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Wily Peralta tossed seven solid innings and Carlos Gomez homered to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs in the middle test of a three-game set on Saturday.

Jonathan Lucroy hit an RBI double and had three hits, while Peralta (17-11) surrendered just one run on five hits and a walk with a career-high 13 strikeouts for the Brewers, who snapped a two-game skid.

"He could have had more wins (this season)," Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke said of the 25-year-old Peralta. "He's got a nice future ahead of him."

Anthony Rizzo finished with two hits and an RBI for Chicago, which entered the game with three straight wins.

Tsuyoshi Wada (4-4) was tagged with the loss after giving up two runs on eight hits across five-plus frames in his 12th start.

"Since he joined us I think every outing he's kept us in the ballgame," said Cubs manager Rick Renteria. "And today we weren't able to respond."

The Cubs opened the scoring in the third. Rizzo's two-out double to right scored Chris Coghlan, who walked earlier in the frame.

Gomez knotted the score with leadoff shot to left center in the home half.

Gomez doubled to left to start the fifth, moved to third after Ryan Braun flied out and came home on Lucroy's RBI double to left for a 2-1 Milwaukee lead.

Arismendy Alcantara tripled on a liner to center with one out in the seventh. He was left stranded, however, after Peralta struck out Ryan Kalish and Logan Watkins to end the frame.

Jonathan Broxton struck out two during the eighth and Francisco Rodriguez closed out the ninth for his 44th save of the season.
