Brewers manager Ron Roenicke acknowledged that there have been some internal discussions about moving Braun to first base, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. "I haven't talked enough with [GM Doug Melvin] about it to even know if there would be a reason to do it," Roenicke said. "I think he's a good defender in the outfield, learning a new position that he picked up pretty fast. I think he'll continue to get better in right. We haven't approached (Braun) about it. It's just kind of what the needs are. We have [Gerardo Parra] here now and we need to figure out what to do with him for next year."

Analysis:

First base has been a glaring hole for the Brewers all season, with Mark Reynolds and Lyle Overbay failing to provide adequate production at the position. The team has given Matt Clark some time at first in recent weeks, and Jason Rogers even got a start there Thursday, but neither is a viable long-term option, nor is former second-round pick Hunter Morris. Thus, the Brewers are forced to consider other options, and Braun would make some sense, considering he came up as a third baseman and Parra is a Gold Glove-caliber defender in the outfield. However, it sounds like the talks of moving Braun are in the very early stages.
