Pirates clinch playoff spot for 2nd straight year with victory over Braves

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Pirates secured a spot in the postseason for a second consecutive season Tuesday night with a 3-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field.

The Pirates would not have been able to clinch a playoff spot Tuesday if not for the Milwaukee Brewers, who moments earlier lost their second straight game and will be eliminated from postseason contention should the San Francisco Giants defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Andrew McCutchen reached base four times and scored a pair of runs in the victory, but the reigning MVP remains isn't prepared to get complacent and seems determined to secure a division title.

And now.....poppin' bottles! #Buctober
