Rays' Jennings to miss remainder of season with knee soreness
Though Tampa Bay Rays center fielder Desmond Jennings has seen some improvement in his wonky left knee, the 27-year-old will not take field again this season, reports Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
"It's gotten better, it's coming along," Jennings said. "I was worried at first, I'm not really as worried now.
"The day I came out of the game, I couldn't even run at 50 percent that day. I was playing with it (sore) the whole second half, so I kind of figured it would be the same, I'd be able to manage it. But I couldn't."
Jennings hasn't played since removing himself from the lineup Aug. 29 and will not travel with the club for the final road trip of the season. Though he intends to simply rehab his knee, Jennings will seek additional medical advice if soreness persists.
Jennings hit .244/.319/.378 (99 OPS+) with 10 home runs and 15 stolen bases in 123 games this season.
