X-rays on Jed Lowrie's left foot negative; wants to play Monday vs. Angels

Bob Stanton / USA TODAY Sports

The foot injury sustained by Oakland Athletics shortstop Jed Lowrie on Sunday doesn't appear to be serious.

X-rays on Lowrie's left foot were negative, according to John Hickey of the Oakland Tribune, and he expects to be back in the lineup Monday vs. the Los Angeles Angels.

"I hated to come out today with what's at stake," Lowrie said following Oakland's 8-6 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies to maintain the top American League wild-card spot.

Lowrie is hitting .245 with six home runs and 46 RBIs through 128 games, and is a much better hitter than backup shortstop Nick Punto, who is hitting .209 in 70 games.
